Hello Everyone! My name is Tina Fisher and I have been with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Team since August 2022. Almost two years now. Wow how the time has flown by!! My position here is Fundraising Coordinator. You will see me at my desk as soon as you enter our office. Part of my job includes renewing your Big Bucks numbers and selling Travelotto tickets alongside our new addition, Tris Chaulk. We want to make some of your dreams come true, as well as raise the funds to support the BBBS Colchester East Hants program. I also have been planning new ways to raise funds for our mentoring programs through things like galas, lawn bowling, ball tournaments, peeler cards to name a few. I also work with other organizations and businesses that want to raise money on our behalf.

My passion is my children! I am a proud mom of two of my own young adults and step-mom to three, all adults. My daughter is now going into her third year at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook Newfoundland. This fall she starts her third year in the Bachelor of Fine Arts – Theatre program. I dearly miss watching her performances, and can’t wait to get to see her on stage again for her final production in her fourth year. My son has a new graduate of the Electrical Construction program at NSCC Springhill. He was hired upon graduation as an apprentice with the company he did his work term with here in Truro. Two of my step children live in another town and one in another province, and I am so very proud of them as well!

Hi friends, my name is Tris! I am a brand new addition to the BBBS Colchester team and I am the Program & Finance Support Coordinator. I started with the agency in March and I’ve come galvanized to make change in the lives of youth in Colchester and surrounding areas. My role consists of supporting the lovely Tina Fisher with fundraising efforts as well as taking care of the Accounts Payable portion of our accounting department. Outside of my role, I love bringing fresh perspectives and opportunities into the awareness of my team so that we can better serve the community around us. What I have enjoyed most about my work so far is connecting with new people, witnessing how mentorship changes the lives of youth, and applying my knowledge of crunching numbers.
In my personal life, I love to perform and engage my community. I am a drag artist by the name of Balencia Books and you can catch me at local drag shows every so often! My passion is building community, especially in the realm of queerness and diversity within communities. As a queer and gender-queer adult, my biggest hope is that queer youth in Colchester and surrounding areas have the ability to grow into queer adults without as much difficulty as I had in my youth. To support this hope, I spend much of my time engaging my community at educational events, through social media, and here at the office. My hobbies include hiking, gaming, and writing poetry. Hello everyone, I’m Sallie. I am the Program Manager here at BBBS Colchester. I’ve been with the agency since 2009. My role involves leading the Service Delivery team here at our agency, guiding, training and inspiring program staff, forming community partnerships, as well as managing some matches myself. What I enjoy most about my work is seeing the life-changing relationships that grow between mentors and young people-it’s very special to be a part of.

Outside of the office, I love to paint and create, watch documentaries, cheer on the New England Patriots, hang out with my partner Aiden, and spoil our dog Ivy and cat, Willa.

Hi, my name is Amy. I joined the team in January 2023 as a Community-Based Mentoring Coordinator. I meet and screen prospective Bigs, learn all about the Littles and keep in touch with the matches to make sure everyone is safe and having fun!  I also get to organize monthly group activities where I can see the Bigs and Littles having fun together.
An interesting fact about me is that both my mom and I were Big Sisters before we got married.  In fact, her Little is still part of our family, forty years later.
When I’m not at the office, you will find me spending time with my husband, my son and our senior beagle, Jake. I enjoy doing crafts, puzzles and reading in my free time.

“Hi everyone, my name is KaraI’m new to the BBBS Colchester team starting in February 2023 as a Site-Based Mentoring Coordinator. Similar to my fellow mentoring coordinators, I screen and train volunteers and mentees within the peer mentoring and in-school mentoring programs. My focus is on reaching the rural locations within our service area. I am passionate about making a difference in the lives of others, especially youth 

I have recently completed a BA in Psychology at the University of New Brunswick and am now pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology online through Yorkville University. When I’m not at the office or doing schoolworkyou can find me spending time with my husband, our Little Brother Aiden and our dog Duke, playing hockeyor just hanging out with friends and family! “

Hi everyone, my name is Shaylyn! I joined the BBBS Colchester team as a Site-Based Mentoring Coordinator in July 2024. My role involves screening, training and matching volunteers and mentees, as well as supporting them throughout our peer mentoring and in-school mentoring programs. What I love most about my work so far is being able to see such amazing relationships grow in our community!

When I’m not at the office, you can find me spending time with friends, family, and my dog Charlie. I also love baking, listening to music and enjoying the outdoors!

Hello, my name is Gabi! I joined the BBBS Colchester team in July 2023 and I am now the Program Assistant. I just completed my third year at Mount Saint Vincent University for a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Studies, and have worked in numerous roles involving youth.

My role at BBBS involves helping out anywhere I can in the office, mainly assisting Kara, Amy and Sallie with tasks involving mentoring. This summer, I’m aiming to promote literacy in children and youth and help to improve our additional support services!

A fun fact about me is that I volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters and have a Little Sister, Macy! When I’m not in the office you can find me listening to music, watching documentaries (mostly true crime!), and spending time with friends and family.

Hey everyone! My name is Kayden and I joined the BBBS Colchester team in May 2024 as the Social Enterprise Manager. My role involves overseeing everything Fundy Scoops including hiring, training, scheduling, managing, ordering and of course making delicious frozen treats for all you lovely people!

I graduated from Mount Allison University May 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minors in English, History and Sociology. I will be attending Crandall University in the Fall to start working on my Bachelor of Education and my dream is to become a high school teacher! I am super passionate about working with youth, to encourage them to learn new things, grow and challenge themselves. Because of this, I am very excited to work closely with the students at the Dairy Bar this summer.

When I’m not at work you will probably find me reading or playing guitar/piano and singing (actually you can probably find me singing while working because I have songs stuck in my head 24/7). I also love spending time with family and friends, binging tv shows, musical theater, and playing sports like volleyball, figure skating and softball 🙂
